As of now, sports betting is legal in 21 states, which is about 42% of the country. Some states like Washington and South Dakota allow in-person sports betting but not online sports betting. Each state has the autonomy to determine its own rules regarding sports betting, so the legality can vary greatly from one state to another.

It's honestly insane how readily sports leagues have flipped to completely endorse sports betting. The inherent threat to the integrity of the game made interacting with betting a complete nonstarter for *decades*, and now in a few short years, they're all-in on pushing this crap with official sponsorships and ads.

Interesting how the NFL just changed their labeling to an "entertainment" company just a few years ago, right when sports betting got larger. Somebody follow the money

the australia information is incorrect

#1 we have 14 casinos in australia, not sure what the 200 number is but if thats for just "any type of gambling" then i have 200 bars that house pokie machines in my local 10 mile radius so that stat is very wrong
#2 at 27:29 it is completely illegal to advertise to australian consumers with any type of online "house of edge". sports betting to my knowledge is the only thing allowed, so the market is not thriving in australia because it technically doesnt exist, at least not legally, if you try and sign up to any of those sites they will restrict your access and say you cannot play from this country, implying use a vpn and then everythings dandy.

It says something about the quality of the 2018 SCOTUS decision regarding gambling in the US when Chris Christie "approves" of the concept.
